Derek Rogers as the
Head Coach of the
U15AA Lady Generals for the 2026–2027 season.
Derek brings over 35 years of hockey instruction and coaching experience across elite levels of the game. As the founder of Buzzsaw Hockey: “Cutting Edge” Hockey Instruction, he has developed a reputation for building strong, confident, and skilled athletes through his dynamic and high-energy coaching style.
In addition to being a dedicated educator and leader for almost 30 years, Derek has served as an Athletic Director and Head of Physical Education for close to 20 years with the Toronto District School Board, where he has shaped countless young athletes both in the classroom and on the ice.
His extensive hockey background includes:
🏒 Pro Hockey Development – Team Ontario (War for the Roses & World Invite) - 2025
🏒 North York Rangers AAA – Assistant Coach/Skills Coach (2014–2021)
🏒 SMGHA Stars – Head Coach (U7 to U11 Girls)
🏒 Hockey Tech International Inc. – Head Instructor, where he developed the European foundations of edge and puck confidence and hockey IQ development
🏒 Private Skill & Team Skill Instructor – 2004 to Present
Derek’s coaching philosophy centers on player growth, resilience, and confidence — creating a positive, high-performance environment that helps athletes reach their full potential. His Team Coaching philosophy is: “Good Person, Good Teammate, Good Hockey Player…in that order.”
